Cotopaxi Boma 13L Daypack Review
By: Molly Guernsey
This Boma daypack has quickly become my go-to bag! I have used it as an overnight travel bag, a day hike bag, and even as a school bag! It looks small at first, but I have found that I can easily fit everything I need inside of it with extra room to spare.
One of my favorite parts of the Boma is the internal zippered mesh pocket. This pocket has allowed me to store things I would like to be easily accessible such as my keys and even snacks. There is even a laptop sleeve inside of the bag which makes a hiking bag quickly turn into a bag I can carry for school or work.
The bag itself is extremely lightweight and makes for an easy choice when looking for something to carry for a long hike. A downside is that there are no side pockets for a water bottle, but that is easy to get over as soon as you feel the comfortability of wearing the bag. The shoulder straps are padded and breathable and the chest strap distributes the weight of what you're carrying so that the pressure isn't completely on your shoulders. The backpanel is the same padded and breathable material, but I have found that when carrying it for a long period of time, it can cause your back to get hot and sweaty. I was also surprised to find out that the outside shell is water resistant which makes it even more of a top choice when going camping or hiking.
1. No side pockets for easy water bottle access
2. Isn't very breathable so it can cause your back to get hot and sweaty
1. Lightweight and comfortable
2. Inexpensive ($39 for such a versatile bag!)
3. Water resistant
This is a simple pack, but I have found it to be of use in many situations! And just look at the color of it! My bag is Seafoam but they have the same bag available in 8 other options! Check it out here in Tahoe and here in Steelhead. Such bright and vibrant colors! Cotopaxi also partners with several nonprofit organizations around the world to help provide water, education, and overall health to people in need. Definitely a company that you should consider purchasing from!
Another area that might be helpful to note about the Boma backpack is the unique specs share by Cotopaxi here they are in detail:
Flexible and very strong cotton+polyester outer canvas shell;
They offer a built-in laptop sleeve that fits the majority of on market laptops.
The back panel of the day pack and the should straps are made to be as breathable as possible
It has a small panel pocket on the inside of the pack for small gadget storage
